... Newcastle will have to join the queue, because others are also interested.

OK, he is currently at Newcastle on loan and that must count for something, but Arsenal will offer him higher wages AND Champions League football.

He lives in London, and I'm sure that's where he will want to stay,

Plus, as we learned before - money is his God - and he will go to the club that pays the highest wages, which is why he snubbed Newcastle in the first place and signed for QPR.

Last week, QPR confirmed losses of £65.4 million for last season.

A spending spree of £41.1m, which included the £8m purchase of Remy last January, was a risk that failed to save them from relegation and has taken the Loftus Road club to the brink.

As well as losses almost trebling, their net debt virtually doubled from £91.4m to £177.1m, while turnover dropped from £64m to £60.6m.

Incredibly, wages rose from £58.5m to £78m.

QPR will be hit with a transfer embargo under the Football League Financial Fair Play rules if they cannot sort out their finances.

QPR chairman Tony Fernandes admitted his club will sell in the summer. He said: “Achieving promotion this season is not critical to our long-term strategy, but remains our short-term goal.

“If we fail, the support is there and there is no need for any more advances to build a squad.

“We are now in a position where we can work with what we have, and raise capital to invest in the squad by selling players who are not part of the manager’s plans.”
