Allardyce Leaves Dyer At Home!

Allardyce hinted during the week that he could chance putting the England international on the bench, even though he was still upset at his move to West Ham falling on stoney ground.

But with the story coming out that the deal could be back on, with the Hammers making a double swoop for Dyer and team-mate Nobby Solano, the midfielder has been left out of the squad.

Dyer's days on Tyneside appear to be numbered after Allardyce omitted the 28-year-old from his weekend plans, having decided the player's attitude was suspect during yesterday's training session at the club's Benton HQ.

Sam Allardyce's Newcastle side will limp into their opening game without six big-name stars as their injury curse continues.

Shay Given's recent groin injury ensured the Magpies goalkeeper will join Michael Owen (thigh), Damien Duff (ankle), Joey Barton (metatarsal), Emre (ankle) and Celestine Babayaro (groin) on the sidelines.

Alan Smith and Mark Viduka will make their debuts but Claudio Capaca and Jose Enrique are less likely to figure.

Newcastle (from): Harper, Carr, N'Zogbia, Rozehnal, Taylor, Solano, Milner, Geremi, Butt, Smith, Viduka, Martins, Ameobi, Luque, Ramage, Edgar, Huntingdon, Pattison, Cacapa, Enrique.
Former Fulham striker Heidar Helguson is in line to make his Bolton debut after recovering from a knock sustained in the victory against Colchester in a friendly.

Helguson could team up in attack with Nicolas Anelka against Newcastle at the Reebok Stadium following his £1million move.

New signings Daniel Braaten and Christian Wilhelmsson are unlikely to figure as they build up their fitness while Ricardo Gardner and Stelios Giannakopoulos are both injured.
