Allardyce Gets Backing From 'The Govenor' For Man Utd Job!

I'm more concerned about Sam heading off to manage England, rather than Man Utd, even more so if England don't beat Israel on Saturday.

Steve McClaren is hanging onto the job by his toe-nails; Fergie goes when HE says he wants to. And that won't be for two or three years at the very least.

Sir Alex was speaking at the Citizens Theatre in his home town of Glasgow.

When asked who he felt would succeed him, he said he felt current assistant, Carlos Queiroz, will be a strong contender. But Ferguson added he has no idea when he will to make his final decision to retire.

He revealed that his ex-captain Keane, Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce and Charlton boss Alan Pardew have impressed him in recent years, and could get the job.

Ferguson: "Pardew at Charlton has got something about him, he is a good young manager.

"Roy Keane has got a good chance, he has something about him.

"Of the older ones, Sam Allardyce is a very influential manager. His way of managing is very different. He is very into the sports science, he had about 16 people working behind the scenes at Bolton.

"He knew how many yards his players were running, how many sprints they were making.

"During the game, he has got all the figures on a big screen behind the dug-out. He will do well at Newcastle.

"The thing is, I have not made my mind up when I'm retiring. It's not going to be an easy decision.

"The important thing is to leave a good team. The present team is very, very good, but they will get better."
