Mauricio Pochettino has ruled out recalling Emmanuel Adebayor for tomorrow night’s Capital One Cup quarter-final with Newcastle.

Adebayor has just return from a week’s leave of absence – granted for ‘personal reasons’ – during which he travelled to Ghana.

The forward returned to London yesterday and has resumed training but he will not be involved against the Magpies.

Mauricio Pochettino (talking to the Echo): “He will not be considered for tomorrow.

“He only started again yesterday to train and after one week away, it is impossible to be ready to play tomorrow.”

Alan Pardew will welcome back Steven Taylor and Moussa Sissoko for the trip to White Hart Lane but full-back Daryl Janmaat is out after picking up a fifth caution of the season against Arsenal.

Goalkeepers Tim Krul (ankle) and Rob Elliot (thigh) are also sidelined along with midfielders Mehdi Abeid (toe), Rolando Aarons (hamstring), Ryan Taylor (knee), Siem de Jong and Gabriel Obertan (both thigh).
