Dyer out of England game

Dyer suffered a recurrence of his back strain after training on Monday morning and immediately pulled out of the game. Southampton must be becoming one of Kieron’s least favourite places!

The midfielder has now returned to Newcastle where he will have intensive treatment on the injury, in a bid to be fit to face Blackburn on Saturday.

There was better news though for Gary Caldwell though. The defender, currently on-loan at Coventry, has been called into Bertie Vogts Scotland squad to face Canada on Tuesday.

It is likely that Caldwell will play in tonight’s Under-21 clash with Ghana and be on the bench against Canada tomorrow.
